Awed by The Avengers

My wife Cherry and I watched the movie The Avengers last night. I was so excited to watch this movie because there's nothing beats seeing several superheroes with blockbuster movies each in a single movie. To make my excitement worst, my friend Marc posted The Avengers movie poster that he took on a movie theater showing that he already saw the movie at the opening day. But I patiently wait for the weekend to watch the movie because it is the perfect time for me and Cherry.

When I discovered that The Avengers will be showing, I watched the movie Captain America and Thor so I could have an idea of what they are like in the modern film. Both actors gave their characters justice.

We almost missed the scheduled time in our ticket because of unexpected event but we managed to catch on time.

Another reason what makes me excited to watch the movie was that, most of the reviews I read has expressed gratification. And they were right. The movie was awesome! I was wondering if there are characters that will be given less importance or significance because the of the full-load of big characters and actors that will compete for main spot. But I was impressed because each characters has given highlights in the movie and they ended up equal. Maybe Tony Stark has acted to be affiliated or known with the agency S.H.I.E.L.D. but they acknowledge Hulk as the strongest. Captain America was giving strategy orders to the team. Black Widow proved to be a great asset to the agency as a spy as well as the Hawkeye. Hawkeye also showed his contribution to the team. Thor has been burdened by his brother villain, Loki.

Along with the movies special computer CGI effects, dialogues, and Black Widow, another thing that prevents you from boredom is the humor. The movie has humor all over it.

The movie also showed conflicts between the main characters which demonstrated their powers to one another. I was surprised how strong Captain America's shield when it was not shattered by Thor's hammer. I was also marveled how Thor's hammer was loyal to its owner when Hulk himself cannot lift it.

All in all, the movie was great. I'll be waiting for the part 2.

I also hope Justice League would assemble themselves and make their own movie.

Great Performances on Binibining Pilipinas 2012

Last night, we watched the coronation of Binibining Pilipinas, the Miss Philippines beauty pageant. There are lots of pretty candidates this year. Although my bets went to the final set, the newly crowned Miss Philippines was a surprise.

I really like watching beauty pageants because I appreciate beauties. I also enjoy the Evening Gown competition even more than the Swimsuit competition, believe it or not. Because I think, in the outfit, especially gowns, the beauty of women flourishes more, compares to the swimsuit outfit, in which women are understandably attractive to men.

On the Evening Gown competition, there are two guests who performed during the ramp; Arnel Pineda and Bamboo.

I really admire Arnel Pineda for his high-pitched voice and he sing the song very similar to that of the original. He was discovered on YouTube and now a lead singer of the band Journey (Open Arms, Anyway You Want It). Every time this guy sings, I listen.

He sang one of my favorite song from one of my favorite band U2; Pride. I really stick to the tube when I heard the intro. I thought the song was really high pitched. Although Arnel reached the pitch, I saw that it really gave him a challenge. All in all, it was a great performance.

Another great singer in this event was Bamboo, a former lead vocalist of Rivermaya and Bamboo. In this number, I can say that he really is a singer. He sings well, unlike other band frontmen who's main goal in performing is to growl.

Now, going back to the winner, the winning candidate was candidate no. 18, Janine Tugonon. A pharmacy graduate, this is her second time to compete in the pageant. She was the first runner-up last year. This proves that winners don’t quit.

I think Janine deserves it. She got looks and brain. She answered the question very well. Her winning answer made me convinced that she deserves to wear the crown and be the Philippines’ representative to the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.

When asked about women choosing a successful career over a happy family life;

“I believe women have the right to choose between what they want. Just go for what God wants you to do. Between the two, whatever it is, you must do your purpose in this world. Just have faith and mature obedience, and everything will go smooth,”

Ironic

I really like the lyrics of the song Ironic by Alanis Morissette. Life is full of irony. I guess everybody can relate. I was in college when it was released. So there's a lot of memory here in this song. Enjoy!

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic...don't you think
A little too ironic...and, yeah, I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out
